Freedom and Justice - Praying for Mercy

Yesterday, the United States celebrated 235 years since its Declaration of Independence.  I ran the Watermelon Run in Winter Park, Florida.  It is the third year that I ran this race and it starts my Run for GUA Africa fund raising runs for Emma Academy.  Meanwhile, Casey Anthony, a 25 year old Orlando woman was sitting in the Orange County Courthouse as closing arguments on her 7 count charge of murder, manslaughter, child abuse and lying to the police.  The closing arguments looked quite dire for her and she faced the death penalty.  Today she was acquitted from the most severe charges and only held guilty for lying to the police.

Absolute Freedom 2010

I remember celebrating Independence day drunk.  I remember independence day sober.  I remember independence day sailing out on Lake Michigan and I remember it in federal prison.  I never knew true freedom until I had none.  I never knew true freedom when all I could control was my attitude...and then I knew I could always be free.  I celebrated July 4, 2010, training for the Chicago Marathon 10-10-10 and running for GUA Africa, for people who do not know freedom.  I am so grateful for my freedom and will cherish it always!

Good Friday

I remember a time when I felt like I was in hell and then I was forced to go to a place that I imagined would be hell on earth. I thought about the fact that a human being, Jesus of Nazareth was willing to go to a cross, an innocent man, was willing to be killed so that you and I could exprerience freedom.
